One series of murders brings two investigations together and tests an already tense partnership.

New stills ahead of the November 20 premiere

The Blue Road has unveiled promotional stills reported on November 4, ahead of its Netflix release on November 20, 2026. Son Suk-ku plays Seoul detective Kim Seok, while Eita Nagayama portrays Tokyo detective Inose. The images shift attention toward how the two investigators work together.

Kim Seok briefs fellow detectives, while Inose searches Tokyo’s back alleys for information. Other frames show their joint investigation alongside a confrontation inside a shop. These contrasting moments present a partnership where professional cooperation and personal tension coexist, without revealing how their relationship will develop.

One case connects Seoul and Tokyo

The story begins with murders on both sides of the border. A mutilated body discovered in Tokyo carries a message written in Korean. A similar case then emerges in Korea, accompanied by Japanese writing. The connected clues force investigators to follow the same international trail.

Han Jun-hee, known for D.P. and Coin Locker Girl, directs the adaptation of the comic Blue Road. Netflix’s official introduction describes an investigation moving through Seoul, Tokyo and beyond. A change of city therefore does not mean a different case: the messages and victims belong to one mystery.

The people who complicate the investigation

Kim Shin-rock plays Lee Yoon Ok, a businesswoman of Korean descent living in Japan who helps Kim Seok. Jung Jae-young portrays Seo Hyun Tae, a powerful underworld figure in Japan. Choi Sung-eun appears as intelligence agent Yoon Soo Kyung, adding another investigative perspective.

The new images show Yoon Soo Kyung pressuring Inose in an interrogation room and introduce a business card linking supporting characters. The case extends beyond pursuing a suspect. For both detectives, weighing useful information and understanding the interests of those providing it become part of the search.
